Fa Hien was a Chinese religious pilgrim who travelled by foot to India,visiting many sacred Buddhist sites in (present)Pakistan,Nepal,Bangladesh,Sri lanka and India.He came in search of Buddhist books of discipline during the reign of Chandra Gupta II.He also wrote his impressions of India.He reached India about 400 A.D. and visited Peshawar,Taxila,Mathura,Kannauj and many other places.He reached back China via Jawa in 414 A.D.
