Alexander the Great's brief conquest of parts of NE India as he wasn't able to hold this territory. The first European countries to establish permanent settlements (trading-posts initially) in India from 1500 onwards were the Portuguese. They were followed by the Dutch and French, and the English were relative latecomers. However, I think it would misleading to speak of any European country 'ruling' India or any really large part of it till the British conquered Bengal in 1757.

hope it helps u dear

Evajiju: the answer will be alaxander the great
Evajiju: Who was the first european to sail directly to india?
Evajiju: Ans:- Vasco da Gama was the first European explorer to sail directly from Portugal to India reaching Calicut (modern day Kozhikode) on May 20, 1498. Ferdinand Magellan was the European explorer who led the first successful circumnavigation , or to travel completely around, of the earth. Although he was killed in the Philippines during the Battle of Mactan, his fleet continued the journey back to Spain and returned in 1525.
Evajiju: This you can know.
Evajiju: Thankyou dear
