Halku is a typical Indian farmer who toils against the zamindari system. he works very hard in his fields o grow crops, but the rewards are reaped by the landlords.

Halku was an Indian farmer who worked very hard against the dominant zamidari system. He lived in a village with wife and did his farming on a land belonging to a landlord.

The maximum share of his harvest went to his landlord as a rate of interest on the borrowed money.

Although he suffered a lot of exploitation and injustice he always held his self respect. But poverty ultimately made him to bow down to his ideals of loyalty in the end.
