Harsha, also known as Harshavardhana, was an Indian emperor who ruled North India from 606 to 647 CE. He was a member of the Vardhana dynasty; and was the son of Prabhakarvardhana who defeated the Alchon Huna invaders, and the younger brother of Rajyavardhana, a king of Thanesar, present-day Haryana.

• The Chinese pilgrim Huein Tsang visited the court of Harshavardhana.
• He recorded the conditions of people during the rule of King Harsha.
• Harsha conquered Kanuauj and made it as its capital.
• According to Aihole inscription, it is said that Harshavardhana was defeated by Pulakesin - II in the battle of Narmada.
• This inscription was recorded by Ravikeerthi, the court poet of Pulakesin - II.
