Hussain was a 7th century revolutionary leader who made the ultimate stand for social justice in the face of corruption
Muharram : First a fall the month of Muharram is the sad month and it is also the Islamic new year
Now Muharram is celebrated because It is believed that Imam Hussain lives in a village and there was at that time rule of khalifas as the khalifa which was ruling before died then it was thinking for new khalifa
so there was a sect known as Shias(yajeed) so they wanted to become khalifa's and wanted to rule on the whole village but imam Hussain did not gave them permission to rule because he knew that if they started ruling they they will advent some kinds of unethical practices and they will do bad things with people and punish them very strictly and he will make them all slaves.Therefore because of this evil reason they did not allow them to rule.
They become angry and started looking at imam Hussain as a wicked and dangerous man.
There was a path of river in the village and that was the only option for water after that the Shias capture that reason and started living there they ordered that give water to all peoples but do not give to the family of imam Hussain so likewise they did very bad and evil things and did not give a drop of water also to them and also even to a 4 month old child and much more.
like this they emerged for them as a threat.
Later on the Shias started a war against the army of king when Imam Hussain came to know this he also went in the ground of Karbala and it is also there that God has send an angle to him in his livelihood to say that whenever there is order of Allah he has to go.
For 10 days the battle remain and God said to him that now throw your sword and made cut your neck while doing shajda it means while offering namaz
and he had gotten 70000 zakham on his body
so Muharram is celebrated as is day of intekal
