Answer:
James Mill was a Scottish born philosopher, educationist, historian , economist, political theorist . He is known for his famous work “ The History of British India”.In his three volumes of work ‘A History of British India’ he divided Indian history into three periods : Hindu, Muslim and the British.
James Mill thought that all Asian societies were at a lower level of civilisation than Europe. According to him, before the British came to India, Hindu and Muslim despots ruled the country. Religious intolerance, caste taboos and superstitious practices dominated the social life of the Indians.
