Dhana Nanda (died c. 321 BCE) was an Indian emporer and as per the Buddhist text Mahabodhivamsa, the last ruler of the Nanda dynasty of ancient India. He was the youngest of the eight brothers of the dynasty's founder Ugrasena (also known as Mahapadma Nanda). Chanakya, a Brahmin who was insulted by him, vowed to overthrow him, and raised an army that eventually invaded the Nanda capital Pataliputra and killed him. Chanakya then installed his own protege Chandragupta Maurya on the throne, an event which marked the fall of the Nanda Empire and the birth of the Mauryan Empire.
