Ahmadullah Shah was known as danka shah during the days of the revolt of 1857.

There was discrimination among the British and Indian soldiers and been believed that the behavior of British soldiers towards Indian soldiers was quite rude.

Rumours had been taking rounds that the English cartridges were greased with animal fat in January 1857.

Low-caste sepoy taunted a high caste sepoy to 'lose his caste' when biting the cartridge as it was greased with fat of pigs and cows.
