Lenin was one of the most important leaders of the Bolshevik party. It was he who led the Russian Revolution of 1917. He was exiled for taking part in the 1905 revolution.

He declared that the war be brought to a close, land be transferred to the peasants, and banks be nationalised. These three demands were Lenin's 'April Theses'. He also argued that the Bolshevik party renamef itself the communist party to indicate its new radical aims.
