Maharaja Ranjit Singh, was the leader of the Sikh Empire, which ruled the northwest Indian subcontinent in the early half of the 19th century. He survived smallpox in infancy but lost sight in his left eye.

Maharaja Ranjith Singh was a Sikh leader who lost one eye at a quite young age. Everyone in Punjab are proud of him. His first wife was Mehtab Kaur. He founded the Sikh empire. He was born on November 13 1780 anf died on June 27, 1839.
