he was the ruler of Mewar, a region in north-western India in the present day state of Rajasthan. His father was Maharana Udai Singh II and his mother was Rani Jeevant Kanwar. Rana Uday Singh of Mewar had 33 children, among them the eldest was Pratap Singh.he was born on May 9, 1540, in Kumbhalgarh and died on January 29, 1597, Chavand.
