In 1869, just five years after John Newlands put forward his law of octaves, a Russian chemist called Dmitri Mendeleev published a periodic table. Mendeleev also arranged the elements known at the time in order of relative atomic mass, but he did some other things that made his table much more successful......

in 1869, just 5 years after john newlands put forward his law of octaves, a russian chemist called dmitri mandeleev published a periodic table. Dmitri Mandeleeev was born in tabolsk russia on february 1834. After recieving an education in science in russia and germany he became a professor and conducted research in chemistry. he is best known for his discovery of the periodic law which he introduced in 1869. and for his formulation of the periodic table of elements. he died in st. petersberg russia on february 2 1907.
