miss mebbin was a paid companion she was very materialistic she didn't want to do more then she was paid for in fact or also instigated mrs packletide note to pay for the goat if the tiger did not eat it she was not at all devoted to Mrs packletide she is a miser and tries to save every single penny she plays it safe while investing her hard erned money as shown by the fact that she bought a cottage
