In the short story 'Mrs. Packletide's Tiger' by Saki, Louisa Mebbin was a shrewd, calculative and cunning woman who did not loose a single opportunity of gaining wealth. She was a money-minded opportunist who could go to any level to make money. She blackmailed Mrs. Packletide with the knowledge that she had shot the wrong animal during the tiger hunt and threatened to reveal it to her social rival, Loona Bimberton. She managed to extract a cottage and more money from Mrs. Packletide in the process.
She was Mrs. Packletide's paid companion for the tiger hunt. She was a fake friend who was not related to her by blood.
