Nambi is a story teller conceived by R.K. Narayan in his story "Under the Banyan Tree".
Nambi is a old man who possessed a great power of imagination in a village of Somal in South India. He would imagine a story in his mind with great ease and then tell it to the villagers . He would unfold story every night and complete it in a month`s time. He provided the villagers with every detailing of the characters in the story . Nambi became an integral part of the village,as he would help the villagers forget the harsh realities of life and embrace them on the wings of imagination so that they could overcome their pain and live a joyful life created by him in his stories.
