Portia was a part of William Shakespeare's play the Merchant of Venice. She was not in Julius Caesar.

In Shakespeare's play Julius Caesar, she appears infictionalised form as Brutus' wife. She makes only two appearances. Portia and Calpurnia are the only two substantial female roles in the play. It is reported in the fourth act that she died by swallowing fire.
