prashant was a 19th year old boy who lived in the village kalikuda in Orissa. he had quickly sensed that the already bad situation would get worse if the things were not taken under control. displaying organisational abilities, Prashant mobilised groups of young and elderly to get food by forcing the village merchant to part with rice. childrens were deputed to signal their hunger to the rescue and relief helicopters flying overhead by lying down with empty utensils on the stomachs. orphans and widows were saved from being shifted to govt. institutions that would have segregated them.

it was mainly because of prashant's courage, compassion, humility and foresight that the things started improving and the life got back to normalcy.
