Raja Raja administered the territories in the south by his sheer ability, prowess and military skills He defeated the Cheras at Thiruvananthapuram to gain control over the trade with the Arabs on the western coast He also defeated the Pandyas of Madural. He had one of the best movies which helped him to invade Sri Lanka and he need northem port. He introduced the local self-government as an important part of the Chola administration. He is well-known for constructing the beautiful Shiva temple at Tanjore, called Rajarajeswaram or Brihadeshwara temple.
