Robert Hooke was the first one to discover cells in 1665. He noticed a piece of wood (cork) having small compartments (dead cells) which he called as cells.

Robert Hooke is the person who is credited for the discovery of cells.

He is the person , who coined the term "cells "

He discovered dead cells while he was observing a cork tissue under his microscope.It was discovered in 1665
