Saheb was a poor rag picker of Seemapuri who had migrated from Dhaka as storms swept away their home and fields. His complete name was "Saheb-e-Alam" meaning the lord of the universe. He used to do rag picking to earn his living. Later in the story he got employed at a tea stall to earn money.

Saheb was a child from Bangladesh whose full name was Saheb-e-Alam. His name is very ironical to what type of life he had to live in his real life. The meaning of his name signified lord of the universe but in reality, he lacked basic requirements of life. Previously he used to roam about with his plastic bag without any restrictions or burden. Now he has to work for the tea stall owner carrying the canister which belongs to his master.
