▣ Mirza Abu Talib better known as Shaista Khan was a subahdar and a general in the Mughal army.

▣ A maternal uncle to the emperor Aurangzeb, he acted as a key figure during his reign.

▣ Shaista Khan initially governed the Deccan, where he clashed with the Maratha ruler Shivaji.

  • Shivaji and his forces quickly entered the palace by making a hole in the kitchen and on entering swiftly slayed the cooks.
