General Bipin Rawat was India's first and only Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) who assumed office on January 1, 2020. He served as 57th Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff Committee as well as 27th Chief of Army Staff of the Indian Army.

He recently died in a helicopter crash along with 12 other officials. The IAF announced  He played a huge role in structuring the Indian Defence area especially in the regions like Rajasthan, Gujarat. He also helped to provide the best facilities to the Indian army.

In his military career, he was a colonel of the Gorkha regime and as a Lieutenant General, he commanded III Corps.

Bipin Rawat was awarded a Doctorate of Philosophy by Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut for his research on military-media strategic studies
