It is not possible to tell that who was the first king of india but still when we talks about the term first king of india we talks about THE FIRST HINDU KING OF INDIA. Who became the ruler of almost whole India.
So THE FIRST KING ( first hindu kind ) of India was Chandragupta Maurya.
Chandargupta Maurya :- Chandargupta maurya was born in 345 B.C. in Patliputra ( modern patna ) and he was the founder of Mauryan Empire . And with the help of Chanakya he defeated the last ruler of Nand Empire in 322 B.C. who was Dhananand and became the ruler and the founder of Mauryan Empire.
Now the term is that why he is considered the first king as many of rulers ruled before him so i would like to tell that Chandragupta Maurya won almost whole of india and not just won but he combined it also no other ruler before him did this they just ruled a very small part of country so the Chandragupta Maurya is considered as first king of India.
Now About THE LAST KING of India :-
So the last king of India is considered to Harshvardhan who was from pushyabhuti ( vardhan Empire ) . He was the son of Prabhakar vardhan and was born in 590 A.D. and after the death of His brother ( Rajyavardhan ) he became the ruler in the age of 16 years in 606 A.D. and ruled almost over all the northern india but when he tried to win Southern india he was defeated by Pulakeshin 2 who belonged to chalukya Empire.
Still you can point me out that how Prithvi raj chauhan was not the last king still he ruled in 1191 A.D. but again i m talking about the term Hindu and the king of almost all india . Though Harshvardhan was also not a pure hindu but he can be consider as hindu and no other king after him ruled almost of India.
HOPE IT HELPED YOU.
