Guru Arjan Dev Ji was the first Granthi of Harmandir Sahib.In 1604, he placed a copy of AdiGranth calling the site Ath Sath Tirath.

The temple is now known as the Golden temple of Amritsar.

It has been destroyed many times by the Mughals but has been rejuvenated over time.It is one of the famous pilgrim spot in India.
