The Himachal Pradesh state information commission was constituted by the state government of Himachal Pradesh on February 4th 2006.

The Himachal Pradesh state information commission appointed Shri Prem Singh Rana who is Retd. IAS officer as it's first state chief information commissioner.

This commission started functioning with effect from March 1st 2006. The headquarters of this commission are at Shimla.
