Explanation: Morarji Ranchhodji Desai was born on 29th February 1896.

After the demise of Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, Morarji was seen as a strong candidate for the post of Prime Minister. He was however defeated by  Indira Gandhi in 1966. Under the Indira Gandhi's government he was given the post of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance,which he held till 1969. He left Congress during 1969 and joined the INC (O).

During 1977 when the emergency was lifted the opposition party came together to fight against the Congress, under the name Janata Party.The Congress were defeated during the 1977 election and Morarji Desai was appointed as the 4th the Prime Minister of India and also the first non-Congress Prime Minister of India.

He remained the Prime Minister of India between 1977 and 1979 and went on to become the oldest ever person to hold the post of Prime Minister at the age of 84 in Indian politics. He was bestowed with Bharat Ratna,India's highest civilian honour.

He died at the age of 99 in 1995.
