Depends on your political view. Nelson Mandela (1994) if you recognise our current political dispensation. CR Swart if you support the apartheid policies of the past (1961, although at the time it was an honorary position). PW Botha if you are looking for an executive position under Apartheid - he started off as Prime Minister, but in the mid 1980s changed the constitution to do away with the ceremonial position of President and make the PM the executive president.
