The problem with ancient Indian history is that the west has written most of it, and it is not easy to say whether many of the puranic kings really existed or not. So let’s just go by the history that the world accepts. The first known king of India is mentioned by some as Bimbisara. However, Bimbisara’s wives were daughters of King Mahakosala and King Chetaka, so clearly, Bimbisara was not the first king. it's not clear about who was the first ruler but if u search on the net it says its Chandragupta Maurya the Great
