The Viscount Mountbatten of Burma was the viceroy of India before independence from 21 February 1947 to 15 August 1947 and after the independence he became the governor general of India as viceroy was abolished so Lord Mountbatten became the governor general of India from 15 August 1947 to 21 June 1948 and then after that C. Rajagopalachari became the governor general of Indian from 21 June 1948 to 26 January 1950.
