Padmavathy Bandopadhyay born on 4th November 1944 in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. She is the first woman Air Marshal in Indian Air Force.

She joined in the Indian Air Force in 1968 and she received the Vishisht Seva Medal (VSM) during the Indo-Pak war of 1971.

She is the second woman to be promoted to three star rank in the Indian Armed services.
