It is Gangadhar Bhattacharya who is known to be the founder of the Bengal Gazette. James Augustus is known to be the father of the Indian Press.

Actually it was "Bangal Gezzete" that was written started by Gangadha Bhattacharya and "The Bengal Gazette" ,also known as Hickey's Bengal Gazette was the first ever British newspaper of India.
But since on the ncert the spelling is same, I suggest to whosoever has this query (3 years after the publishing of the question) to go by the book. But keep in mind they were both separate.
