The Slave or Ilbari dynasty was the first ruling dynasty of the Delhi Sultanate. The first muslim king of India, Qutub-ud-din Aibak is said to be the founder of Sultanate of Delhi. Hence, he is considered as the founder of slave dynasty.

This dynasty is known as slave dynasty as three of the rulers i.e. Qutub-ud-din Aibak, Iltutmish and Balban were slaves prior to coming in power.
