On the 7th of February 1856 by order of Lord Dalhousie, General of the East India Company, the disposition of the king of Oudh (Wajid Ali Shah) was sent out, along with the annexation of its kingdom to British India under the terms of the Doctrine of lapse based on the accusation of alleged internal misrule.
