Lord Mountbatten was the last British governor general of British India and C. Rajgopalachari was the first Indian governor general after independence. In 1950 India adopted its constitution and the President became the Head of the State. Last Governor Generals of Bengal >> Lord William Bentinck (1828 - 1833).
