Who was the shah Zafar what role did he played in revolt of 1857

Bahudar Shah jafar was last mugal emproer in India. He was leader of 1857  revolt he accepted the leadrship as per requests of soldiers who came to Delhi .We could not win in that revolt it's one of the main reason was to have Bahadur Shah as the leader because he was very old on the time revolte thus india had a week leader in center of revolt . But on other hand the english had very wise commanders like Colin Campbell etc.
