The immediate successor of Maharaja Ranjit Singh was Maharaja Kharak Singh.
He was the elder brother of the Maharaja and sat on the throne on 27th June 1839 but was deposed on 8th October 1839.
A year later he was poised to death. After Kharak Singh it was his son who sat on the throne.
