Tipu Sultan was an Industrious leader like his father, Haider Ali. He carried out economic as well as military reforms to strengthen his army.

1) Tipu Sultan stopped the export of sandalwood, pepper, and cardamon through the ports of Malabar and disallowed his merchants from trading with the company  

2) He established a close relationship with the French and modernised his army

Tipu Sultan (born Sultan Fateh Ali Sahab Tipu, 20 November 1750 – 4 May 1799), also known as the Tipu sahab was a ruler of the Kingdom of Mysore. He was the eldest son of Sultan Hyder Ali of Mysore.
