Rani Abbakka Chowta was the first Tuluva Queen of Ullal who fought the Portuguese in the latter half of the 16th century. She belonged to the Chowta dynasty who ruled over parts of coastal Karnataka (Tulu Nadu), India. Their capital was Puttige.

- Ullala Abbakka Rani was the first Tuluva Queen of Ullal, who was known for her leadership and unflagging courage. She was Chowta king's heir and Ullal was Capital city. She was well trained in archery, sword fighting, military strategy and diplomacy since her childhood.
- Portuguese those days were in supreme power along the coastal line and were extending their territory through trade. Queen Abbakka rejected to accede to Portuguese demands on taxes. She continued to trade with the Arabs despite of attacks form the Portuguese.
- Portuguese lost their very first battle, but the succeeding battle somehow managed to ransack Ullal. She however continued to fight against them and killed the general.
