Uncle Podger is a humorous character in the novel . He is Jerome's relative who thinks of himself that he can do anything himself. But whenever he works he disturbs the whole family.

Jerome reminds of his uncle Podger after watching the traits of his friend Harris as he too ask Jerome and George to bring the paper and pen.
