Explanation:

Upanishads influenced not only Buddhism and Hinduism but many philosophers in the West. Upanishads did not start any open revolution , in fact we do not know who wrote these Upanishads(expect 3 or 4 names). But these unknown thinkers left enough impression on Indian society that after few centuries future Sharaman start revolting openly.

Positive Influence-

1.) They gave theory of Karma, Rebirth and Liberation.

2.) They discarded Brahminical rituals and focused more on ethical behaviour, Yoga and Meditation.

3.) Gave the Idea of Atom-ism.

While Buddhist took basic theory from Upanishads but they discarded some idea of Upanishads or took opposite stand on it..

Negative Influence but very important-

1.) Soul- Major theory of Upanishads is that there is a all universally pervading soul and all individual souls are its manifestations. Upanishads also say - The soul i.e subtle essence of Human body is completely blissful and beyond pain and pleasure.

Buddha took opposite stand-he said-Since there is no Bliss and Pleasure but only Pain, So theory of soul had to be wrong.

2.) Theory of Permanency- Upanishads also say there is one fundamental unchanging reality behind all changes i.e Brahman. Upanishads focused on this Unchanging reality and called it Brahman(god), they say if god is infinite then god should be beyond any changes.

Buddha discarded theory of God he said since we did not see any God in this world , so theory of permanency had to be wrong he took opposite stand and said this World is Momentary.
