Vasco De Gama was a portugese explorer who became the first European to reach India via the Atlantic Ocean . he arrived at kalicat on the malabar coast. he sailed from lisbon ,portugal ,in july 1497, rounded the cape of good hope ,and anchored the malindi on the east coast of india.
