Violet Hunter is one of the most developed female characters in any Sherlock Holmes story. In 'The Adventure of the Copper Beeches,' Watson finds her to be a wonderful fit as a romantic interest for Sherlock Holmes, and is disappointed at the end of the story when the case ends, and Holmes has no more interest in her.
