Yordanka Donkova, is a retired athlete from Bulgaria who ran the 100-meter hurdles. In Bulgaria's Stara Zagora, she was born on September 28, 1961.

• Most people agree that Donkova is among the best hurdlers of all time. At the 1988 Seoul Olympics, she won the gold medal in the 100-meter hurdles, setting a time of 12.21 seconds that is still the Olympic record. At the European Championships in 1986 and 1990, she also took home the gold medal.
• However there were some controversies throughout Donkova's career. She failed a drug test in 1992, and as a result was given a two-year suspension. Donkova asserted that the positive test was the product of tainted vitamins while denying ever taking performance-enhancing drugs.
• Despite the controversy, Donkova is still respected in Bulgarian and international athletics, and her world-record effort in the 100-meter hurdles still ranks among the best ever.
