There was a Ahom Kingdom back in 1228 to 1826 at present where are Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.
It was established by Sukaphaa and his followers.
Sukaphaa was a tai prince who was accompanied by the ethnic tai people back in 1228.
Ahoms are direct descendant of those tai people.
