One of the prominent groups of nomads were popularly known as banjaras. They had a system of moving in carts and in caravans from one area to another. They used to transport grains to the city market. It is said that they also carried grains for the Mughal army during their campaigns. The banjaras moved with their families and camped at places in their temporary tents for some days before moving on. Their groups was as big as 300-400 people and cattle.
