Grihapatis:

  • Grihapatis are landowners who are independent owners of property, also known as gahapatis.
  • These landowners in the past were extremely rich and successful in their village as they taxed the villagers or the labourers working on their property.
  • They themselves do not perform any labour themselves, as they simply just own the land and tax the people working or living in their lands.
  • 1/6th of the tax provided by the labourers or the workers goes to the royal treasury of the king.
