Mr Laurence Hutton was Helen's all weather friend. He and his wife had been gracious enough to allow Helen to spend her time at their lovely home and see their library as well as peruse their collection while she had been in New York. Mr Hutton had the faculty of bringing out the best thoughts and kindest sentiments. He was the most generous and sweet natured boy who traced the footprints of love in the life of dogs as well as in that of his fellowmen. Mr Hutton had introduced Helen to many of his literary friends such as Mr. William Dean Howells and Mark Twain along with Mr. Richard Watson Gilder, Mr. Edmund Clarence Stedman, Mr. Charles Dudley Warner and Mr. John Burroughs.
