Jacobins were the members of the Jacobins club.

They included mainly people from the third estate. Their leader was Maxmilian Robespierre.

In 1792, the Jacobins planned an insurrection of a large number of Parisians who were angered by shortage and high prices on food.

Later they imprisoned the royal family.

We can say that they played a major role in the French Revolution as on September 1792, they abolished monarchy and declared France republic.
