when the national assembly was preparing for war with austria and prussia some group of people felt that they have to fight again  for the constitution of 1791 didnot grant them right to vote . political clubs became the famous way of  rallying against the assembly. the most famous political club was th jacobins

members of the jacobins were from the less prosperous section of the soviety that included small shopkeepers shoemakers etc

their leader was maxmillian robosphierre . large number of jacobins decided to wear long stripped trousers . this was to set them apart from the fashionable sections of the society and to proclaim that it was the end of power wielded by the wearers of jacobins so they were known as san cullotes

Jacobins refers to the name of the political club which was formed prior to the French revolution.

The three features of this club include,

1. The club named itself as Jacobins in remembrance of the former convent of St. Jacob in Paris.

2. It became the important meeting point of peoples who were against the monarchical rule and to plan for own forms of actions to oppose the government.

3. It was under the leadership of Maximilien Robespierre. The members of this club were of people who were less privileged in the society which includes daily wagers, watchmakers, cooks, shoemakers, etc.
