Moderates were composed of educated members of the upper middle class. They believed in getting demands fulfilled through prayers.They were totally non-violent. The moderate leaders wanted to develop public awareness about the unjust nature of British rule. Some of their objectives were to

1)Get freedom of speech and expression and given more power

2)Separation of the judiciary from the executive etc.

They used petitions , resolutions , meetings to present their demands.

The moderates were W.C banerjee, Mg ranade, surendra natha banerjee, dadabhai navoroji, gopala krishna gokale

they oranized public meeting discussed various burning issue and submitted memorandums demanding cutting down of military expenditure, development of Indian industry, providing good education and programmes for poverty alleviation

they struggle the British rule by prayers and request for their work
